Happy New YearHappy New Year

I received the emergency shelter book from Cal-Earth. It has many interesting designs for small adobe housing, suitable for visitors. Trying out a few of these will be a good step toward learning how to build with this method in preparation for the larger permanent residence eco-dome housing, and will provide more comfortable spaces for visitors to stay.

Mike Fallwell and I are kicking around the idea of Astronomy-tourism, in addition to eco-tourism, as a money-making idea. This could generate some jobs and income for the Sanctuary participants.  Mike knows how to build large telescopes cheaply and we have an ideal location for astronomy. This idea needs more study and planning to see how practical it is and how much capital we will need to build the scope(s).  Large-telescope time can be worth up to $1000/night so it could generate a really nice cash-flow to build up the ecosystem, infrastructure, and housing.

Of course, we won't be limited to astronomy and could also promote eco-toursim, birding, sustainable lifestyle and permaculture workshops, etc.

Sound interesting to anyone?

Happy New Year to All
